Russia And Austrian Oil
VIENNA. Fri. (11 a.m.)- British, American and French representatives on the Allied Control Commission for Austria combined on a resolution declaring that Austria shuld have the control of its own oil supplies, in terms of the agreements signed by all four occupation powers. The Russian representative (General Kurusv) rejected the proposal. He claimed that Russia, in taking - Austrian oil from the Zisterdorf fields, was only exercising her rights under the Potsdam Agreement. The oilfields were German external assets, and therefore entirely a Russian concern.
The United States representative (Lieutenant-General Keyes) said it was scandalous that Austria should have to spend dollars for liquid fuels, when her own oil was exported, contrary to agreements Russia had signed.
