WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

RIPONUI - JORDAN A large attendance at Ihe October meeting of the Riponui-Jordan Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs Forsyth. Two visitors, Mesdames Brown and Nesbitt, were welcomed. Mrs Nesbitt gave a demonstration on hand hemstitching. A talk was given by Mrs Courtney on life in England. The results of the month’s competitions were as follows: Child’s cardigan, Mrs Phyn 1, Mrs Thompson 2. Home-made sweets, Mrs Thompson 1. Mrs A. C. Christie 2. Collection of bulbs, Mrs Phyn 1, Mrs A. Christie 2. Necklace of flowers, Mrs Forsyth 1, Mrs A. Christie 2. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Walker and Harris.
