Cholera Ravages In India, Egypt'
(11.30 a.m.7 NEW DELHI, Oct. 17. More than 1200 refugees so far have died of cholera in Delhi since the disease was first reported here on September 25. Mass inoculations of between 5000 and 6000 persons daily in Delhi refugee camps and the activities of field ambulances and health units are reducing the incidence of cholera and dysentery. A Cairo message states that the Ministry of Health announced 308 cholera deaths in Egypt today, the heaviest yet in one day. The total since September 29 is 5613. There have been 773 new positive cases reported. More vaccine is being rushed from Britain and India.
Reuters Marseilles correspondent reports that a British ship arrived from Egypt with a suspected case of cholera. The authorities have taken elaborate precautions, inoculating all sailors, dock workers, police and customs and health inspectors having contact with the ship and with a French liner which also arrived from Egyptian ports. Newmarket Sales (Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 17. I The aggregate for this week’s sales at Newmarket of mares,.foals, yearlings and horses in and out of training was 113,000 guineas for 229 lots. The final session today brought in T 8.390 guineas for 28 lots. The top price of 2100 guineas was paid for the four-year-old gelding Starstone.
