Germans Derisive At Explosion Failure
(Rec. 11 a.m.) HAMBURG, Oct. 17. Thousands of Germans who had been forced temporarily to leave their homes in the surrounding area laughed and cheered when 27,0001 b. of high explosive failed to demolish Hamburg’s biggest concrete anti-aircraft tower which is 150 ft high.
The explosion, which : ,was heard as a muted bang, left only a few cracks in the tower walls.
