Championship Season

G. Neville top-scored with a 49, 46 95, at the opening shoot of the Whangarei Defence Rifle Club’s championship season at the week-end. The contest was over 200 yd and 300 yd ranges. Runner-up was S. E. Foot, with 47, 46—93. Other good scores were: W. Boreham 4G, 4G—92; C. Teal 45, 40— 85; Mrs M. P. Teal 42. 41—83; F. Brown 44, 39—83; E. A. Foot 41, 40—31; K. Gwyn 43. 38—81; W. Howie 39, 39—78; O. Mulhollanct 33, 37—70; A. Sturge 33, 32—G5. Northland Rifle Champs. Revived The Whangarei Defence Rifle Club is reviving the Northland championship shoot this year. The last such event was held in 1939. The shoot is to take place at Whareora at Labour week-end for A grade shots and tyros. Entries are expected from Matamata, five Auckland clubs. Whangarei, Dargaville, Kaitaia and Omana. They close on October 17. Marksmen will shoot at 200. 300 and 500 yards, these being the only ranges at Whareora.
