New Premises For Kindergarten
In newer and more spacious premises at the Methodist Sunday School Hall, near the historic Leigh Memorial Chapel in Kamo Road, the Whaaigarci kindergarten commenced its third term today. Previously the kindergarten was accommodated at the Congregational Hall in Princes Street, but the expansion of the organisation necessitated larger and more convenient premises.
There is now adequate accommodation for at least 12 more children in addition to the present roll number oC
A member of the association's executive, Mr V. B. McKeague, said today that owing to the impending retirement of the present head teacher (Mrs vV. Cooper), it would be necessary to obtain the services of another teacher. The association was indebted to Mrs Cooper for the enthusiastic manner in which she had carrietl out her duties since the inception of the kindergarten. It was hoped that the problem of finding a teacher to replace her would be solved in due course.
The kindergarten, Mr McKeague continued, was still short of such equipment as small tables, toys and games for the children. As the association had been conducting the kindergarten with the least possible expense to parents it had not been able to incur much expenditure in this direction and assistance from parents and well wishers would be appreciated.
Second Term Holidays Northland .primary schools and district high schools will resume tomorrow after a fortnights holiday. The Whangarei High Schools will not reassemble until Tuesday week.
