'War Of Liberation'

A pamphlet stated: “To the people of England, this is a warning. “Your Government has flouted international law and invaded our country. “We are resolute that it shall not come to pass again. “We will carry war to the very heart of the Empire. “We will strike with all the bitterness and fury of our servitude and (bondage. “We are prepared to fight a war of liberation now to avoid a war of enslavement tomorrow.” The arrested persons will appear tomorrow before an examining magistrate, who will decide on any changes to be preferred. The British Air Ministry said the Royal Air Force had taken special precautions, since France sent advice of the Jewish plan to bomb London. The precautions would be continued as required. Air Ministry officials in London, asked about reports from Paris that a Jewish group planned to bomb London, pointed out that the courses of all aircraft flying in and out of Britain were carefully plotted, and that any such attempt would be doomed to failure. They conceded that a sneak raider might be able to cause some damage along the coastal fringe but Royal Air Force defence bases would quickly and ably deal with any emergency.

Reuters Paris correspondent says the plane, which Rabbi Korff was boarding when arrested, is a single-engined four-seated American model, which a private owner purchased from American surplus stock. A French Ministry of the Interior spokesman, after announcing the discovery of the Stern Gang’s plot to bomb London, said the police had been watching members of the Stern Gang Jor several weeks, checking reports that the terrorists were going to conduct an air expedition over London. Both Irgun Zvai Leumi and the Stern Gang had many agents in France, he added. Police raided a clandestine printing office in a Paris suburb and seized a large quantity of anti-British propaganda tracts. The Associated Press Munich correspondent says a competent army source disclosed that the Irgun Zvai Leumi obtained some of the bombs it used in Palestine from United States Army depots in Germany. Investigators found that an Irgun branch in the Munich area had been smuggling bombs to Palestine. It is possible that Jews bribed United States Army guards with whisky. Several paid informers recently left the American Security Service, explaining that their lives had been threatened.
