British Papers Can Maintain Four Pages
(Rec. 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 2. The president of the Board of Trade (Sir Stafford Cripps) informed the Newsprint Supply Company that it would be permitted to take up part of the newsprint due for delivery during the first half of 1948 under existing contracts with Canadian hnd Newfoundland suppliers. The company says the quantity permitted is 50,000 tons, which will permit newspapers to continue on the present basis of four pages, with sales limited to the figure of June, 1947, until June 30, 1948.
