Mr J. F. Johnson, of Whangarei, has been appointed by the Minister of Justice to the vacancy on the Marsden Licensing Committee caused by the death of Mr A. H. Curtis. The Rev. H. L. R. Isherwood, onetime vicar of Bay of Islands, and recently Vicar of Mt Albert, has been appointed vicar of St John’s Latimer Square, Christchurch. After being ordained by Archbishop Averill in 1926, Mr Isherwood was assistant-curate at Ellerslie before coming to the Bay of Islands. In 1937 Mr Isherwood was appointed the first RNZAF chaplain at Hobsonville, and senior Anglican chaplain to the Northern Military District in 1940.
