Danger Of Flooding On Oargaville Road

During the 24 hours ended at 8 o’clock this morning ,G7in. of rain fell in Whangarei.

Rain fell rr.cst of the night and this morning, causing much surface flooding.

The roads to Kaitaia, Dargavillc and at the Brynderwyn Deviation on the way to Auckland are passable, although very greasy and flanked by water on both sides.

Conditions are very bad at the far end of the Whangarei Heads Road, but traffic can still negotiate it.

Shortly before noon the rain eased slightly, but should it continue, flooding of the Whangarei-Dargaville road is likely. Slight flooding has occurred in the Hikurangi swamp area but all roads leading through the swamp were still open at midday.
