Bad Drivers May Lose Licences
(Special) WELLINGTON, This Day. An officer of the Transport Department is to interview motorists who | have had more than one accident involving personal injury, cr who have a history of traffic convictions. Announcing this last night, the Minister of Transport (Mr O’Brien) said there were a large number of “acci-dent-prone” drivers on the road today, some of whom had had as many as six accidents in which persons had been injured. The Minister said that it was proposed to review the licences of all drivers who had had more than one accident involving personal injury within a reasonable period. An experienced tariff inspector had been appointed to interview, examine and report on the driving characteristics of all such "accident repeaters,” and where circumstances warranted it the driver's licence would be revoked.
