No approach has been made by the New Zealand Government to Britain on the subject of an increase in prices for dairy products, Mr Nash said.

Mr Nash had been asked to comment on reports from the Press Association correspondent in London that New Zealand and Denmark were making overtures to the United Kingdom for higher dairy prices. “The only discussions which I have had were purely tentative ones in Britain,” said Mr Nash. “Nobody who wants to see Britain win through would want to push her hard at the present juncture. “However, if higher prices were given to a competitor it might alter the position. At that point it would make it very awkward for us. “If the Danes got more for their dairy produce in Britain, we might have to ask for an adjustment.;’
