The air search for the missing' scow line re was intensified today when a Hudson air-sea rescue aircraft from Whcnuupai joined the Catalina which will make her third flight this afternoon.
By this evening 18.000 square miles will have been searched by air. .She is now six days overdue at Auckland from Parengarcnga. The search was continued today. An air-sea rescue Caialina yesterday Hew along' tire course the Ilaere would have taken, uric! on the return to Auckland flow 45 miles out to sea before turning to cross the Hen and Chickens group. WELL FOUND AND EQUIPPED Reports were received from two of the three searching launches that there was no trace of the Haere. 'These two launches searched the coast as far north as the northern entrance to Doubtless Bay. Alone Or Rock ? (Special) AUCKLAND. This Day.
The Catalina searching for the missing' scow kaere yesterday saw no sign of the small boat reported to have been seen at anchor in Spirits' Bay on Tuesday. This boat was thought to have been the American yawl Alone, which is overdue at Auckland from Suva. It is now felt that the object sighted on Tuesday might have been a rock which resembles a small craft. Owner-skipper of the Alone is Mr Francis Agnew, of Los Angeles. He is accompanied by Mr Trevor Bish. of Suva.
