Requirements For Temporary Buildings
Minimum requirements for temporary buildings permits were dealt with in a report before the Whangarei Borough Council last night. In the brick area roofs of buildings should have timber framing with corrugated iron, fibrolite or tiles. Ihe engineer (Mr I. A. Cromie) reported. Walls should be of limber studding with fibrolite or of plastered board, corrugated iron or of brick or concrete panels. In the outer area he recommended that materials required for permanent structures should be adhered to as temporary permits mostly concerned the purpose for which the buildings were to be used and not the material of which they were to be constructed.
The fire brigade superintendent (Mr S. V. Fulljames) should be asked for his opinion as to the minimum fire resistance rate that should be permitted in -the brick area, and whether temporary buildings with timber stud walls and fibrolite wallboard outside should not be lined with the same material.
The town planning committee’s '-e----commendation that the report should be forwarded to the superintendent for comment was adopted.
