Merchant Officers' Dispute Unsettled

(Special) WELLINGTON, This Day. No settlement has yet been reached in the dispute between New Zealand ships’ officers and their employers.

Details of new conditions which the employers had been prepared to offer masters and officers had not been acceptable. said the secretary of the Merchant Service Guild (Captain W. R. Williams).

Although many of the anomalies in the present award had been removed, a number of conditions were unchanged. Negotiations will probably continue for several weeks now that the proposals have been rejected.
