Mr Justice Johnston Retires From Bench
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. His Honor Mr Justice Johnston, wh.is retiring from the Bench, on which he has served for 13 years, was farowelled by a large gathering of members of the legal profession, including the Attorney-General (Mr Mason) yesterday. Mr Mason said Mr Justice Johnston had carried out the worthy traditions .of his illustrious forebears, both his father, the Hon. Sir Charles Johnston, and his grandfather, Dr Isaac Earl Featherston,, having records which stood out pre-eminently. Tributes were also paid by the president of the New Zealand Law Society (Mr P. B. Cooke, K.C.), and the president of the Wellington District Law Society (Mr J. R. E. Bennett). It is understood Mr Justice Johnston will reside on his property on Mahia Peninsula.
