Whangarei Golf Club Makes Steady Progress
IN its first complete year of operations since the end of the war, the Whangarei Golf Club progressed both in the way of increased membership and revenue. This augurs well for the club’s future.
The last-named drew a field of 84 and the title was w{m by W. J. Glanville, of the Whanga'rei club. The Northland women’s chamDionship proved a very popular event and was won by Mrs G. W. Hollis, of Auckland. Principal club matches were won as follows: Senior championship, A. Aplin; intermediate championship, B. Fairley; junior championship, A. R. Morgan; club handicap, M. H. SherrifT; Hogan Cup, C. A. Jones. A highlight of tlje season was the unofficial course record of 59 established by J Galloway. Mr Nelson expresses the appreciation of the club to the retiring secretary of the Whangarei Ladies’ Golf Chib (Mrs I. Wilson). Mrs Wilson has occupied the position with credit for some years.
