Plan Development At Broken Hill

(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 23. Mr John R. Govett, chairman of the Zinc Corporation, announced a decision to form a new company called Broken Hill Corporation, with a capital of £5,000,000 to extend lead and zinc mining at Broken Hill, and smelting and refining manufacturing industries in Australia, Australian mandated levritcries and the United Kingdom. The company’s issued capital will be 1,000.000 41 per cent cumulative redeemable preference shares at £1 sterling each, 2.000.000 ordinary £1 shares .and 2.000.000 shares unissued. Mr Govett defined the expansion plans as: U) To seach for and develop, where justified, other mines in the neighbourhood of Broken Hill and elsewhere. 12) To search in Australia and its mandated territories for oil and natural gas and develop the use of coal nr.d other fuels.

(3i To develop manufacturing industries associated with the treatment of ■sulphur-bearing ores and the production of non-ferrous metals.

<4) To supply power and other machinery for the use of the Broken Hill nield.

<5) To provide research, technical, financial, commercial and transport services essential to mining, smelting and manufacturing industries.
