Radar To Find Lost Vessels

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Mobile radar equipment is to be kept at the Dominion Physical Laboratories, Gracefield, to enable small craft, including dinghies, which get into difficulties or become lost off the Wellington coast in thick or rough weather, to be more easily located. It is felt that such equipment might haVe located a dinghy lost recently off Ohiro Bay. The police will have means of speedy communication with the technical staff who man the radar equipment, and two-way radio will enable communication to be kept with the Wellington central police station.
