Gun Club's Fine Start
In its first year of operations, the Whangarei District Gun Club built up assets to the value of £143. This splendid achievement was reported. at the second annual meeting of the club last night, when the president (Mr S. J. Snow) was in the chair and there was a good attendance. The membership of the club is just under 50, and the healthy state of affairs has evolved from the voluntary work of enthusiasts, contributions and the membership fees. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: Patron, Mr D. P. North; president, Mr S. J. Snow; vice-president, Mr R. C. Smith; honorary vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. McKinley, R. McKinley, A. E. Walker, C. Schon, and J. McLeod; official handicapper, Mr R. Cavanagh; executive committee, Messrs H. James, C. Timperley, W. Timperley, R. Butcher, J. Cotterill, A. H. Alexander, A. E. Walker and S. Fraser; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Parkin; auditor, Mr C. P. Butler; judges, Messrs S. J. Snow, R. Cavanagh and A. H. Alexander. Arrangements have been made for the big jubilee-shoot of £IOO, to be held on November 24, to be filmed by the New Zealand Film Unit, which will be in Whangarei for the celebrations. Entries for the event are coming in well and a full shoot is assured.
