Ruhr Food For Two Days

(Rec. 1 p.m.) LONDON, Nov. 6. The food position in the Ruhr is so desperate that an urgent appeal was sent to the Commander-in-Chief by officials asking what can be done immediately toward bringing in emergency supplies, says Reuter’s Dusseldorf correspondent. Officials say “something like a miracle” is needed to avert mass starvation. Food stocks in general are sufficient for only two days. READY FOR TROUBLE

Civilian Control Commission employees at Herford have received a warning that they may be trained to use firearms in case large-scale riots break out. The British United Press Herford correspondent says a food official emphasised that the step did not mean that the authorities definitely expected trouble, but were preparing a sort of Control Commission “Home Guard” just in case.
