BERLIN. Aug. 24. Frau Kramer, widow of the notorious commandant of Belsen concentration camp, was arrested while attempting to enter the camp to search for a box of jewels, supposed to have been hidden by Irma Grese. who was executed with Kramer and others for atrocities committed at the camp. Frau Kramer, who has been living in poverty, got in touch with Irma Grese's sister, Helena, a nurse in the Russian zone of Germany. Together they went to the camp, where Helena told the camp guards Frau Kramer's errand. They arrested Frau Kramer and searched the garden, but found no trace of the treasure. Frau Kramer had a narrow escape on a previous visit to Belsen when an inmate threw a knife at her.
