Desperate Poultry Food Situation

(P.A.) WELLINGTON. This Day. At a meeting of poultry keepers in the Hutt Valley last night the chairman (Mr B. Matthews) said the position concerning food for their flocks was desperate.

Advice received from Timaru that afternoon was that storage space there was filled to capacity. *

Mr J. S. Sinclair said that if the public were getting one egg per week now. they would be lucky if they got one per month in the near future unless the Government facilitated the shipping of food. The meeting decided to write to the Prime Minister and also ask other poultrykeepers" organisations throughout New Zealand to do the same, placing before him the urgent need for supplies of food for flocks.
