Roll Of 1914 Soldiers

A nominal roll of the 15th Company of the North Auckland Regiment which sailed from New Zealand in September, 1914, has been compiled by Major A. A. McQueen, of Otaika, and submitted to Army Headquarters in Whangarei for inclusion in an official history of the unit. The record is comprehensive and Major McQueen has put much time into the work of assembling detailed information on more than 250 men who comprised the company. The record contains the army number, rank, name in full, record of service, fatalities, and the present addresses of all men who returned to New Zealand at the end of the war. In the list of 21 decorated men is Private James Crighton, V.C., a veteran of the South African war and an ex-member of the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders.
