Second: I. Rowlands and S. Cooper oeat C. Storey and R. Hill by half a length. Third: S. McCabe and D. McGregor beat P. Gardner and H. Hannam by a canvas. PROMISING COX Thp club has a very promising cox in young Dave Gardner, who has been in the back seat for most of Ae winning crews in the trial fours this season. He made his regatta debut at Ngaruawahia a fortnight ago, and steered an excellent course.

The son of the club's old stalwart. Peter Gardner, seems to have inherited his father’s aquatic enthusiasm. He has the happy knack of knowing just when to cal] on his crew for the vital extra punch and is sure to develop into a first-class cox.
