SUPPLIES.—The Eastern Group Supply Council and central provision office wiil be dissolved tomorrow, according .to a Board of Trade announcement. Th ■ Council was established in India in 1041 to coordinate supoly between London and the eastern group countries—lndia. South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. COLLABORATION.—The British Govi rnment has announced that no further criminal proceedings will be taken against persons accused of collaboration with the enemy in British lerritorities in South-east Asia, unless an atrocity or brutality is involved. Those already convicted will be pardoned. The decision does not apply to persons whose activities as informers led directly to the atrocities, brutalities and murders committed by the enemy.
SPEFDS.—Lord Brabazon. former Minister of Aircraft Production, predicted that within two years jet-propelled passenger planes would be crossing the Atlantic in three hours. However, it would be quite some time before helicopters were used, as taxis, he said. This was because of their uncertain airworthiness during ascent when 100 to 150 feet from the ground. TRAMPS.—Norway, famed for its tramp shipping, will have tramp air lines- now. A new company will send fast goods aircraft to South America and the Far. East hoping to return with full cargoes. PEACE.—The Foreign Office has * announced that the United States has assured France that a European peace conference will be held in Paris on May 1. but Britain and Russia have not replied to inouiries whether France should go ahead and issue, invitations. POLAND.—A new wave of anti-Jewish terrorism has broken out in Poland, says the Central Committee of Polish Jews. The delegation added that 14 Jews had been murdered within, the last month.
