Plant To Extract Oil From Coal
Htec. 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY. This Day
A syndicate of Sydney businessmen plans to establish a plant at Cessnock. in the Newcastle district, to extract oil from coal.
The plant, which will employ several thousand men, will also supply domestic gas for power and domestic use to most parts of the northern coalfields. The Federal and State Governments are being asked for assistance. A ton cf coal is expected to yield 45 gallons of crude oil. 7000 feel of high-quality gas. and 14 cwt of smokeless fuel as well as tar. bitumen, synthetic resins and plastic material.
