BUILDING INCREASES IN WHANGAREI BOROUGH

A substantial increase in building at Whangarei took place last financial year.

The total value of building permits issued by the Whangarei Borough Council for the year ended March 31, 1946, exceeded the previous year's figures by £44,326.

Permits totalling £156.461 were issued for the year, comprising 86 dwellings representing £125,608; eight permits for other buildings, valued at £12,067; and alterations and additions for which 172 permits, representing £18.786 were issued.

To March 31. 1945, dwelling permits were issued, totalling £61,257. Permits for seven other buildings, £19.645, and 166 alterations and additions, £31,233, were also issued. The total figure for the year was £112.135.

Monthly buildings statistics for Marco. 1946. showed that permits to the value of £15.127 were authorised, an increase of £376 on the figures for the corresponding month last year, March figures comprised nine dwellings, £13.410. and 12 alterations and additions. £1717. For the same months in 1945 permits for seven dwellings, £8406. one other building £4OOO. and 25 alterations and additions £2345, were issued.
