Paying Last Overseas War Debt
New Zealand's last overseas debt in connection with the war is to be paid. The Minister of Finance (Mr Nash) said last night that arrangements had been made for the repayment to the United Kingdom Government of the full amount due under the Memorandum of Security Agreement, £18,000,000, together with interest accrued to the date of repayment. The payment of this sum. the Minister said, meant that the whole of the costs of the war incurred overseas had been met out of loan revenue and taxation within New Zealand, and that all leans still remaining unpaid were due to our people within New Zealand.

“The effect of the payment of the agreement reached in London in 1914,’ said Mr Nash, “will be the subject of discussion during’my visit to the United Kingdom."
