Women's Civic League

The lirst meeting for 104(1 of the Whangarei Women's Civic League was held at the residence of Mrs W. J. Dawson, Shcrtlnnd Street.

The president (Mrs Dawson.) welcomed the members and expressed the wish that all would go forward well in the year. Mrs Maxwell, delegate to the Ladies’ Patriotic Committee, was thanked for her work during the past year. Mrs Hirtzel reported on the general meeting of the Residential Nursery Committee.

Christmas gifts were given lo inmates of the Potter Memorial Home and Old Men’s Home from members of the league. A discussion on the need for a busshelter at the top of Mill Road took place. The borough council is to be approached in this matter.
