Hokitika Flooded
( Special.) HOKITIKA. This Day. Low-lying parts of Hokitika were flooded in a sudden tall of rain on Saturday. Tlic railway line between Hokitik i and Greymouth was temporarily blocked. In the 24 hours ended nine o'clock on Saturday morning. Greymouth experienced a fall of 1.04 in. of rain, while more than double this figure was recorded at Otira and further south in Westland. The rain followed a week’s fine weather and a drizzle continued throughout the week-end.
The year’s rainfall to dale is now 17.64 in. and the total for February 5.30 in.
