Filipino M.P.s Armed Against Lawless Elements

(Rec. 11.10 a.m.) MANILA, Jan. 3 The Defence Department has announced that 10,000 sub-machine guns have beeti issued to 19,000 Filipino army military police for operations against lawless elements, particularly in Central Luzon.

Military police also possess planes and field hospitals for operations. The Associated Press says there have been persistent rumours that heavily armed gangs are dominating local governments. Some are reported to be former guerillas; others are active in the Agrarian movement against LuSon landlords.
