Rush To Be Britishers

(PA) WELLINGTON, This Day “With the lifting of the wartime embargo on naturalisation, my department has been literally swamped with applications,” said the Minister for Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry), today. Each application, he said, wpuld •receive due and expeditious attention. He hoped those concerned would realise that proper investigation and inquiry had to be made in every case. Preference would naturally be given to those cases which had been waiting the longest, and, in particular, those made by men who have served in the armed forces of the Dominion.

The Minister emphasised that, while he appreciated the natural desire of all concerned to obtain British nationality, continual ringing up and writing to the department, so far from facilitating progress, could only result in further delay.
