609 M.P.H. In Speed Trial

(Rec. 11 a.m.)

LONDON. Oct. 31

Revised figures of Group Captain Wilson's speeds in the Meteor Britannia yesterday was 601 miles an hour on the first run against the wind and 609 miles an hour down the wind. The discrepancy between the revised times and those announced previously was due to faulty timing apparatus. Yesterdav the average was stated to be 527 miles an hour

One patch of fog in otherwise clear skies over Britain covered the Herne Bay airspeed reqord course today, causing cancellation of the two Meteors’ final test flights. Weather permitting, they will be held tomorrow.
