RUSSIAN REPLY TO BRITISH PROTESTS

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON. Oct. 31 Russia today replied to Britain’s protests that she was not consult- » ed before the Soviet entered into trade agreements with Hungary and Rumania. Mr. Bevin told the House of Commons tha the i‘eply stated that the Russian Government did not consider that the agreements affected legitimate British interests. The agreements were aimed to promote the development of economic relationships between Russia and the countries geographically near her. Mr. Bevin said die had not yet had time to consider the reply. Mr. Anthony Eden: “Is it not a fact that the Russian Government offered at Potsdam fuller participation by us in the control com mission, and should not they havo consulted us in view of that? Mr. Bevin: I think one of the most disturbing elements in endeavouring to get united action in this business is this constant bilateral procedure.
