Three Spring Frosts

Inclusive of this morning, there have been three successive frosts in Whangarei—a rather unusual occurrence for this time of the year. Not only have the nights and early mornings been cold, but, although there hps been some warmth in the sun during the day, there has been a cold wind blow ing.

Two New Zealanders have been appointed to the British Colonial Service in Africa. One, Mr Albert George Lowe, barrister and solicitor, of Auckland, will take up the position of Crown Counsel for Kenya, and the other, Mr E. J. Haughey, M.A., LL.M., 8.C0m., a member of the Native Department staff, Wellington, has been appointed Crown Counsel in Tanganyika. The appointments were made as a result of an appeal by the Governor of Kenya for assistance in filling vacancies in the legal service of the colony.
