National Party Social

Over 100 members of the National Party and their friends gathered in the Vinery Lane Hall tit ihe invitation ol' the Whangarei Branch of the organisation for the purpose of hearing Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P., as well as enjoying an entertaining evening. Presiding was Mr H. Beehre, chairman of the Whangarei branch which organised the evening, and occasion war taken to introduce Mr F. V. Powell, the newly appointed branch secretary. Mr Murdoch gave a resume of the work and debates in Parliament during the present session and was listened t;o with interest by these who had gathered not only from Whangarei but also from the surrounding district branches. During the social hour musical items were given by Mrs A. H. Morgan and Captain G. C. Andrews, secretary of the Marsden Electoral organisation 'of the party. Refreshments wore served by members of the ladies’ committee. Such was the success of the function that it is proposed to hold a series of similar evenings.
