New By-Law Governs Offensive Trades
A by-law governing the carrying on of offensive trades within Hie borough was passed at a special meeting of the Whangaroi Borough Council lasi night. In short, the by-law states that no person shall establish or carry on any offensive trade, except at premises registered by the council and subject to conditions ar may, from time to time, be imposed. , Upon an application being made for permission to carry on an offensive trade. ;a report will be obtained by the council • from the sanitary inspector as to the fitness or .-otherwise of tin* premises proposed to be utilised. If this report is satisfactory and the consent of the Medical Officer of Health lias been secured, then a certificate of registration may be issued. This registration will be annual, and the fee payable will, be £1 per annum, and for transfer of registration, 10/-. The bylaw then deals with the measures that have to be taken by the person carrying on with the trade to ensure that no offence is erected by reason of his trade.
