Northland Interest In Gun Dog Trials

That there was no doubt that Lie club had awakened interest amongst gun dog owners and would continue to do so. especially with the approaching return to more normal conditions, said the president (M. G. Ramshaw) at the annual meeting in Whangarei of the Northland Gun Dog Field Trial Club.

Mr. Ramshaw said that the petrol restrictions had made it difficult for members to attend trials held during the year, but the enthusiasm shown was Ratifying, and augured well for the future of the club. Trials had been successful, especially that in conjunction with the Kennel Club's annual show. Favourable comments on this run were received from visiting competitors. and the club could look forward to a championship meeting at some future dale.

In co-operation with the Acclimatisation Society the club held a pheasant drive at Ruakaka, the object being to ascertain the number of birds then located there and while there was not a large attendance of members, those present collected valuable information which was passed on to the society. Members were to be congratulated, said Mr Ramshaw, on the successes achieved at the trials held at Huntly during Easter. During the year many trophies had been received, these donations being appreciated. The club was unfortunate in losing the services of its secretary (Mr R. Williamson) and the thanks of members were due to Miss J. Hannam, who stepped in and carried out the duties attached to the office until the end of the season. The balance sheet showed a most satisfactory financial position. It is the club’s intention to hold a trial about the middle of September. Officers Elected Officers elected wetv:
