The Whangarei Ladies’ Golf Club championships commenced at the Mt. Dcnbv links yesterday. The gieens and fairway's are in perfect condition. The qualifying rounds were played yesterday. The best gross score in the senior division was returned by Mrs I. fi. Stewart (85). and in the junior division bv Mrs. R. J. N. Crosby (97). Those who qualified wore: Senior, Mrs. I B. Stewart, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Goorgeson. Miss G Abbott. Mrs. Laird. Mrs; Robertson, Mrs. Allan. Junior: Mrs. Crosby. Miss P. Abbott. Mrs. Birnie, Miss Lamb. Mrs. Gilchrist, Mrs. Dyer. Mrs. Nelson. Mrs. Ward, Mrs. J Clark, Mrs. Hailes. Mrs. James. Mrs. Western Mrs. Foist, Mrs Wilson. The first round of (ho junior championship played this morning resulted; Mrs Birnie beat Miss P. Abbott 4 and 3; Miss Lamb beat Mrs Gilchrist 3 and 1; Mrs Nelson beat Mrs Dyer 6 and 5; Mrs Clark beat Mrs Ward 3 and 2; Mrs James beat Mrs Hailes 4 and 3; Mrs Weston beat Mrs Feist 3 and 2.
