Occupy Ail Manchuria
(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 21. All Manchuria will shortly be completely occupied by the Red Army, says agency correspondents in MosSoviet despatches report more Japanese surrenders and the unopposed occupation of Manchurian cities and towns. , „, , ~ _ , , Firing ceased on the Sakhalin Island front at noon yesterday when Japanese envoys approached the Russians under white flags. The Red Army, while the Japanese are carying out the surrender terms, are advancing to take over the southern part of the island and also expect to re-enter Port Arthur soon. The Red Army has appointed Lieut.General Derevyanko as representative I of the Soviet to accompany General ! MacArthur to Japan. Lt.-General i Derevyanko is due in Manila in a few ; days. A Russian communique reports that the Red Army yesterday took 52.000 prisoners ! throughout Manchuria, including the • Kwantung Army commanders of the Ist Front. Central Front and also of the 3rd and sth armies. The process of taking i over the canitulating units of the Kwani tung Army 'is continuing.
