Fined £5 For Theft Of Pump, Repair Outfit
For theft of a motor car pump and tyre repair outfit from an unoccupied truck near Maungaturoto, a man was fined £5 and directed to make 10/restitution and suppression of his name war. ordered, when he appeared in the Whangarei court this morning before Mr W. C. Harley, S.M. Prosecuting, Detective-Sergeant J. B. Finlay said in evidence that one week-end the man had travelled to Auckland by car, the tyres of which had been punctured twice. As he had possessed no repair outfit or pump and he had already used the spare tyre, accused had found an unoccupied truck and had removed the Dump and repair outfit from it. These had not been returned. Accused was a married man with five children.
“I'm not worried about you. but about your wife and children,” said the magistrate in ordering suppression of accused's name, and sentencing as stated.
