The chairman and deputy-chairman of the Whangaroa County Council, Messrs. T. H. Hayes and C. Martin, have been appointed delegates from the council to attend the Counties Conference to be held in Whangarei on August 29 to discuss ward matters.

Mr V. Duff, of New Plymouth, has been selected by the New Zealand Employers’ Federation as representative of the employers to attend the International Labour Conference in Paris next October. Mr Duff is secretary of the Taranaki Employers’ Association and Chamber of Commerce. He was the employers’ representative on the second Arbitration Court. Mr H. A. Timbers, who has held, a war-time appointment as manager of the Princess Theatre, Kaitaia, for the past four and a-half years, was, during the week-end, guest of honour at a “surprise party” at his home, when members of the theatre staff gathered in force to extend their good wishes on his resignation. A presentation was made by Mr B. McKinnon. Mr L. E. Read, of Auckland, has taken over the theatre managership.
