Govt. Taking Steps To Acquire Air Services

(Special) WELLINGTON, This Day. “We are taking steps to acquire the airways, and I do not think anyone would argue that we should do anything else if we are to co-ordinate the transport system of the country,” said the acting-Prime Minister (Hon. W. Nash) when speaking in the Address-in-Reply debate in the House of Representatives last night. Mr Nash quoted similar examples in overseas countries, mentioning South Africa, where the Government owned all- the airways. An Opposition Voice: And the worst in the world. Mr Nash added that the Canadian airways were mostly owned by the State, while the 8.0.A.C. was run by the British Goveniment. He forecast I that in a short time the British Government would extend its influence. “What is wrong with Union Airways?” interjected Mr T. C. Webb (Cppn.-Kaipara). “Union Airways are doing a good job, with the Government finding the money to ensure that they pay their way,” replied Mr Nash.
