Mr J. G. Ritchie, of Kaikohe, was re-elected chairman of the Bay of Islands Harbour Board at the annual meeting. No other nominations were offered. The appointment of three new members of the Economic Stabilisation Commission was announced yesterday by the Minister in Charge of Stabilisation. Mr Sullivan. They are Messrs C. B. Sinel, of Auckland, David Allan, of Wellington, and John Roberts, of Christchurch. The Rt. Rev. Bishop Lyons has been advised by the Apostolic Delegate,
Sydney, that Pope Pius XII. has appointed the Rt. Rev. Dr James Kennedy, parish priest of Beckenham, a domestic prelate to His Holiness, with the title of monsignor. Monsignor Kennedy, who is very well known throughout New Zealand, was VicarCapitular of the Christchurch diocese during the period between the death of Bishop Brodie and the enthronement of Bishop Lyons. Charged with completing the organisation of the Greek Orthodox Church in New Zealand, the Very Rev. the Archimandrite Father Chrysostom Boyazoglu, D.D., has taken up his residence in Wellington. He has come to carry on the work begun by Archbishop Timotheos Evangelinidis, Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church in Australia and New Zealand, who became ill in Wellington last January and had to return to Australia. The Greek Orthodox Church has a growing number of adherents (at present between 600 and 700) in New Zealand.
