(P.A.) PALMERSTON N„ This Day. “The present position of foodstuffs in the Dominion is a tragedy.” said Mr. C W. Humm, Rangiora, president of the New Zealand Friesian Cattle Association, at the annual meeting. “In tlte south the autumn wheat has gone rotten. We cannot plant more. Potatoes are just not worth digging. Herds are going out of production. “A long sighted policy is needed if we are going to get our herds back to normal.”

The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. Humm; vice-president. Mf. M S. Rennie (Auckland). Mr, J. W. Rainey (Kaiapoi): council vacancies. Messrs G. Cooper, T. J. Whewell (Hamilton), W. E. Johnson (Hawera), E.*M. North (Dunedin).
