Pausina-McCarthy
The marriage of Dawn Evelyn McCarthy, daughter of Mrs J. Mcllwaine, of Auckland, to Sydney Clifford Pausina, son of Mrs C. Pausina and the late Mr J. Pausina, of Kaikohe, took place at St. Joseph’s Church', Kaikohe. on Saturday, March 31. The Rev. Father P. Sheerin officiated. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr J. Latta, wore a beautiful gown of ivory charmeuse satin cut on classical lines. Her long embroidered tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and pleated tulle. She carried a bouquet of mandevillia, charm dahlias, tuberoses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Nancy Pausina, sister of the bridegroom, wore a picture frock of white floral satin taffeta fashioned with a heartshaped neckline, long fitting bodice and full skirt. Her shoulder length veil was held in place by a topknot of delphiniums, cyclamens, nerines and maidenhair fern and she carried a bouquet of the same flowers. Mr Joe Pausina was best man. During the signing of the register Mrs H. Moran sang ‘‘Ave Maria” accompanied by Mrs I. Davison, who also played the bridal march. The reception was held at the Kaikohe Hotel where the guests were received by Mrs J. Latta, aunt of the bride, who wore a frock of burgundy romaine crepe with black accessories. She carried a posy of deep red roses and dahlias. She was assisted by the bridegroom’s mother who wore a black silk suit and accessories to tone, and carried a posy of red roses and maidenhair fern.
