Princess Joins A.T.S.
(8.0. W., 11.50 a.m.) RUGBY, March 4. Princess Elizabeth is to join the Auxiliary Territorial Service. It is officially announced from Buckingham Palace that the King has granted her a commission with the honorary rank of 2nd subaltern. The Princess is at present attending a cotirse at a driving training centre in the South cf England. It is understood that she joined the A.T.S. at; her own request. She will carry out the ordinary duties of a junior officer at the centre, and by the King’s command will receive no preferential treatment because of her rank The Princess will be 19 on April 21.
