British Hospitality Excellent relationships existing between British people and New Zealanders visiting the Old Country were emphasised in a letter received by a Whangarei resident from people in Cornwall. The letter records the pleasure given by the entertainment in their home for a short period of the son of the Whangarei man, particularly as the hostess had a son three, years’ older serving in Normandy. The freedom and holiday atmosphere had given the New Zealander rest he greatly needed and the English family hoped he would again visit them.
