Smash Railway Targets

LONDON. October 3.

In one of the be>t nights against railway targets since D Day, Second Tactical Air Force Mosquitoes last night, without loss, attacked 51 trains, most of them in Germany near the Ruhr Valley, and northeast towards the -Dutch border. Eight were attacked between Emmerich and Gladbach, four north of Coblenz, seven near Osnabruck and others were spread over a large area of Gemany and Holland, including Arnhem area Six locomotives are claimed definitely to have been destroyed, and 15 fires starred among other trains. One fire was visible for 30 miles. Five motor transport vehicles and nine barges were also attacked. Trawler Driven Ashore After a bombing attack against a trawler off the Dutch coast, three cannon attacks were made, and the trawler ran ashore while taking evasive action. A factory also was bombed and strafed. Photographic interpretation of last evening’s bombing by Mitchells and Bostons of seven German strong-points at Arnhem, shows tjiat bombing was exceedingly accurate. Most reports record the “aiming point was completely plastered.”
